Not everyone knows how to cure diabetes. But everybody wants to cure diabetes. And prevention is better than cure, everybody knows. Diabetes is a serious issue throughout the world. It’s more like any cancer with severe consequences which is killing people slowly. It is the major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, stroke and lower limb amputation. Almost half of all deaths attributable to high blood glucose occur before the age of 70 years.
The numbers are increasing day by day, rising drastically every year. And we all together can stop this increasing number. And most of you would think whether diabetes is curable or not, and I agree this is not 100% curable, but it can be prevented by changing some of our eating habits. Is diabetes curable or not, is the second question. Now the question arises is how do we know about it. But before that we need to know what exactly is diabetes, its causes, its symptoms, complications, remedies, and prevention methods.
As per the collective diabetic report, there are 29.1 million people suffering from diabetes. That’s like 1 out of every 11 people. And 1 out of 4 do not even know if they have diabetes. WHO projects that diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death in 2030, however it is currently 7th leading cause of death already in US.
When you eat or drink carbohydrates, like sugars, starchy food and dairy products your digestive system breaks them down to create glucose to be released in your bloodstream. And glucose is your body’s primary source of energy. Your body cells use glucose with the help of a hormone called insulin released by your pancreas. Insulin helps to regulate the concentration of glucose in the bloodstream. If insulin can’t keep up with the increased level of glucose in your bloodstream, diabetes and other illnesses forms.
When there is insufficient insulin or no insulin, glucose cannot be absorbed in your body’s cells and thus it remains in the bloodstream causing high blood glucose levels or low blood glucose levels. And when cells of your body parts will not get energy which they need, they can’t function properly. That’s when complications occur in our body like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputations.
There are many types of diabetes, however only two of them are very common.
Type 1 Diabetes
It’s also called juvenile diabetes. In this type pancreas doesn’t produce any insulin at all. It can be developed at any age and at the moment there is no known way to prevent it. In adults, type 1 diabetes accounts for approximately 5% of all diagnosed cases of diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes
In this type body cannot use insulin properly. Just like type 1, it can also be developed at any age, but in most cases it can be prevented.
Search For Cure
We spend thousands of dollars on doctors, prescription drugs and insurance and what results do we get after all. As per statistics, in the United States $2.8 trillion was spent on health care. Government has spent billions of dollars or may be trillions in research for cures. But still falling behind, and nothing has been cured. Doctors are failing to cure diabetes. Diabetes is a multi-billion dollars business and it is ever growing. It’s like a perfect business plan. You just have to buy test strips, medication and insulin over and over again, and keep doing this. Medical costs for people with diabetes are twice as high as for people without diabetes. They don’t want you to be cured. Period.
You may be at risk for type 2 diabetes if you:
- Are age 40 or older
- Are overweight
- Have a parent or sibling with diabetes (gene effect)
- Are African American, Hispanic or Latino American, American Indian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander
- Have had gestational diabetes or have had a baby who weighed more than 9 pounds at birth.
- Have high blood pressure or cholesterol
- Exercise less than 3 times a week
- Have prediabetes
That sounds like a new term? If you have more glucose in your bloodstream than normal than you have pre-diabetes. It’s not enough to say you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but yes it increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Got Any Symptoms?

At The End
There’s no cure for diabetes, however it can be managed well if we change our lifestyle. How much time does it take to change our lifestyle? Do we find it so hard to change it?
